Behind Our Curtains
In a wealthy neighborhood where children learn gossip before they learn empathy, four friends spend the bulk of thier days watching the world from behind sheer curtains; mocking, mimicking, and whispering about the lives around them. But beneath the laughter lie quiet horrors. When one of them goes missing, the children are thrust into an adult world they have only observed from a distance. Behind Our Curtains is a haunting coming-of-age story about how quickly innocence is snatched from children and how easily thier lives can be ruptured.
Sprinkled Harmattan
In 1993, Kevin Carter captured a complex kind of pain in a single frame: a starving child and a waiting vulture. The haunting images he documented in famine-torn Sudan would eventually become precursors to his own tragic end.
Thirty years later, in a small Nigerian community, a neighborhood dispute detonates into violence, fracturing a family of four. As the survivors are dragged through a desolate landscape of grief, they are forced to confront the limits of the love that binds them. While the narrator grapples with the guilt of survival, the ghost of Carter’s photograph returns. Not just as a memory of Sudan, but as a mirror to their own silent suffering.
A heartbreaking exploration of the distance between the witness and the victim, Sprinkled Harmattan is a fierce, unflinching look at the photographs we carry in our minds and the tragedies whose trauma is etched deep within us.
